Meet the Director:
Cam William MacArthur is a film director and cinematographer from Victoria BC who has found a niche in short conservation-based documentaries. MacArthur’s directorial debut Plastic Beach, was chosen to screen at the Omnimax theatre in Science World for the Elements International Film Festival, and since then MacArthur has directed a number of short films that cover topics from overfishing in the Salish Sea, to preserving British Columbia’s remaining ancient forests.
Cast & Crew
Before They Fall highlights the decades-long battle by conservation groups, First Nations and scientists to protect the remaining old-growth forests in British Columbia. When legal proceedings prove useless, the conflict escalates as land defenders block a logging company from accessing the last unprotected ancient watershed on southern Vancouver Island.
